Since postal events in today's email/server world are effectively horse buggies, I think the comparison is quite appropriate. My point is that international postal events have always tended to be very slow, while our expectations now tend to be based on a much faster mode of communication. In point of fact, my impression is that in many cases international snail mail service has actually deteriorated in recent years.
