Instead you should let him sit there, suffer, and beg you for a draw."

Message:   John;

I see no benefit to the Fischer-type timekeeping at all, it is a bit more confusing and after 50 moves or so accumulation is about the same. I like and of course have strongly advocated here the idea of a maximum accumulation. I used 100 (as a round number) instead of 90 but that's a small difference.

30+1 sounds too fast, but maybe it's the fastest ICCF can get to work, it's hard to say. I predict a gradual speeding of the game on the server, no one with any business sense would make a radical change with so much risk. 10/50, then maybe a minor restriction on accumulation, then look at going to 10/45 or a better (stricter) limit on accumulation, etc. Time limits, if not altered drastically, are not really part of the game and should be subject to changes as desired.

That said the current Olym prelim shows I can play at SM level easily with an average 2 days per move for a server event, so I am not advocating my personal rate of play here by suggesting that sppeding up play is not clearly a good or desirable thing.

Ken
