Christ church,Attercliffe
I'm trying to find the location of Christ Church,Attercliffe....is it still in existence and is there still a graveyard there |

Hi Diane, Christ Church Attercliffe is no longer standing although the church yard is still there as an green space near the junction of Attercliffe Rd and Worksop Rd (beside the royal bank of Scotland) , The headstones that remain, are placed around the perimiter of the churchyard and Attercliffe municiple cemetery joins on to the rear of the old church yard I have photographed and indexed the remaining headstones. Where you looking for anyone in paricular ? |

Hi Tony, Excuse me butting in but have you a photo of headstones for George Curtis died 1922 (74) or Reuben Seaton died 1920/30's (born 1855) in either Christ Church, Attercliffe, Attercliffe Municipal, or Tinsley Park Cemetery? Thank you. |

Hi Thanks for your reply...I'm particulary looking for any of the WINTER family in the late 1700 up until the early 1800's...the main one being John Winter |

Hi Diane, Using the dates you have supplied here is some information that you might not be aware of...... Christ Church, Church Lane, Attercliffe. Was only built in 1826. Records Sheffield Archives. ORIGINALLY. Hill Top Chapel Attercliffe was erected as a Chapel of Ease to the Cathedral. When Sheffield was divided in 1844 the parish was split between Attercliffe & Darnall. Marriages prior to 1849 check the Cathedral Records. Please read FAQ's & Facts..... The Alan Godfrey Maps show this area very well. Yorkshire Sheet 295.01 Attercliffe 1903. Elaine in Ottawa.
