Re: caveney family

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the site and I hope we can help you.

The only Caveney I can see is Thomas aged 47 single a Hawker living at School Croft. Thats on the 1891.

Is this the chap you are looking for?

Re: caveney family

hi elaine, thanks for your info. i do have a thomas
but his dates are 1849 to 1897.thats the trouble, i have
the names but i can,t seem to put them together.
none of them are listed on any census, apart from my
g.g.father john caveney who in 1871 lived at 4 pea croft
with an owen caveney born ireland 1847. my grand fathers name was owen but he was born in 1894.other names are
james 1820 to1902.michael 1851 to1881.patrick 1857 to 1910.we think they originated in galway.
cheers for now michael.

Re: caveney family

Hi Michael,

1861 census......Solly St.
If Catholic probably St Vincents.....opened 1853.

I see that Owen & John's mother was Mary born Ireland.
Was her husband John? Death Sept 1857.

I don't think John & Margaret's births were registered though it does say they were born in Sheffield.

I would say that a good sleuth through the Parish Registers are needed in this case.......

Good Luck.

Re: caveney family

I think you will have to grapple with various variant spellings of CAVENEY. eg:

1891 census (SDFHS)
piece 3818 e.d. 14 folio 49
10ct 5h Pea Croft
(Sheffield North)

Micheal CAVANY Head Marr 48 general labourer Ireland
Mary CAVANY Wife Marr 40 LEI Leicester
