Hackenthorpe School
Dear Friends, We are on the last six batches of school transcriptions and would like help to complete them. The amount of material that has been transcribed has been phenomenal and judging from the comments been very helpful. So can I see six hands raised please. Elaine in Ottawa.

Sorry Elaine No can do I'm afraid, I still have some I haven't finished yet, but will hopefully complete them this week. The trouble I have is not being able to do the split screens, so I have to write everything out in hand first and then copy that onto the template. If I can help in the future though, I will let you know. Yours apolegetically, Kim

Oh no....... I can see Ann Halford putting on her cape and flying to the rescue so you don't have to write them out... I will send you the sheet I give folks when they first start transcribing as well which shows you how.. Bye for now Elaine.

Hi Elaine Will watch out for the caped crusader! I think it has got something to do with my aged computer, and lack of excel. I will look at your document to see if | can use it though. We only have a student package on the laptop which doesn't have excel, and the other computer isn't even worth mentioning, it came out with the dinosaurs! Will let you know when and if I can figure it out so I can do some more. Kim

Hi Kim I am transcribing but don't have Excel either. Do you have Microsoft Works as there is a spreadsheet in that? You can save the Indexers Excel S/sheet into Works and then once you have done the transcribing into it and submitted it they convert it back to Excel. Its really straightforward. I haven't had any difficulties with doing it that way (and I'm not exactly a computer whiz!). If you want me to go through it with you PM me and I will set out how to do it. Sue

Hi, Just read Sue's message and realised that I have Microsoft Works so, presuming it's as easy as it sounds, I can now offer to do some transcribing. cheers, Loraine |
