.:*¨¨*:. Exciting new project Sheffield Parish Church, St Peter and St Paul !!! .:*¨¨*:.
.:*¨¨*:. Calling transcribers old and new!! .:*¨¨*:. Hello all, Sheffield Indexers are looking for transcribers to help with our latest exciting project. We have at last - due to Elaines persistence - been granted permission to transcribe the Baptisms for the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, now known as the Sheffield Cathedral. We are going to start in 1842 and work backwards in time. These records have never been indexed before and there are lots of them as you can imagine as the Parish Church was the main church for this area for many years. We would be glad of any assistance from anyone who has transcribed before but also would welcome new helpers and all you lurkers out there !! You dont need to be a typist, or have any special skills. You do need a PC, Excel or any other programme with a spreadsheet/calculation facility, enthusiasm and a little time. You can do as much or as little as you wish. We supply all the materials you need. Contact Vicki Theaker ... vicki@vtheaker.fsnet.co.uk for more information or to start this project off. |

Hi Vicki Well done to you and Tony - I know what a lot of hard work you have both had to put in getting it all put together. And congrats to Elaine too for her persistence over the years. It's finally paid off kiddo! It's so exciting!! This is a really important happening in the annals of Sheffield genealogy. Let's hope we all manage to knock down those infuriating brickwalls. Take care all, Ann |

Hello. I haven't done this work before but will give it a go if you give me the instructions. This will give me a break from the research side of genealogy! Driving me nuts at the moment. Patricia. PS I think out of all of Yorkshire, Sheffield web site takes some beating - with the exception of North Yorkshire's Monumental Inscriptions given with a photograph of the grave and transcribed. |
