Er...Group Therapy tips?
Just found out that this group therapy organisation is meeting tonight, straight after my counselling last night! Who's been through group therapy, any particular differences from the one-to-ones, do the same post-session devices (eg the cinema, favourite music, longer journey back) all work the same way in levelling you out on the way home? Thanks in advance

Hi Ken Shame no one answered the post before you went to the group session, (if you did) There's lots of ways of difussing the group process when you leave, and you mentioned most of them, but for me, when running the groups I do here in Swindon, I find that letting it go, and ensuring that it stays in the room we walked out of, works for me and has done for many years. Also, remember that you have already survived the abuse once, as the child, and can do so again, as the adult now, so take care of yourself and dont allow the past to come back and fuck with your head §tèvë |

Thanks Steve, it was only the one before the August Bank Hol that I missed, my therapist judged me ready but I never made the call, just wanted to enjoy the long weekend. I went and it helped that it was only half full, much easier for them to get to know me and vice versa as the months go by rather than seeing the whole gang at once. I'll just make sure that I'm not leaving in a rush like I was last week/month, I should've paid as much attention to before the meeting as after. Still, you learn. |
