How was the retreat

Hi guys

How are you all doin hope you are all well?.

How was the retreat?. Sorry that i couldint be there wanted to but couldint wasint able to as iam not ready this year

I am tons better than is was ive a much stronger person now than i was but theres still a lot of work that has to be done.

Its not easy staying here in same place you were abused i just need to get away but impossible at mo

Ive just got to get on with life keep smiling, look to future even though i dont think i have one at moment but at end of day iam not giving up at all i will fight. I am worried about my future if iam honest and have to put on a brave face all time which is not good at all. Everything just gets on top of me but i have to keep smiling

I start counselling hopefully in next few weeks ive been on waiting list for 2 months surely cant be much longer now?.

Anyway iam going to go if there is a retreat next year i will be going so i will see you all there

Take care stay safe

Re: How was the retreat

Hello Steven

I see in the other thread you mention you are soon to get counselling in Glasgow. They took long enough to set up Thrive but at least it's there now for counselling, though Steve was saying I think that the support group they were trying to start lacks funds. I don't know about that.

They have had four support groups for women in Glasgow advertised on various abuse sites for ages which is good, but nothing at all for Glasgow for men which is really bad. My own recovery was down a lot to help from Steve and others on the forum at Survivors Swindon which I contacted by internet. I did get twice get some counselling here in Glasgow once a month from a psychiatrist who was quite good but she only gave me that for six months after I had been hospitalised.

I started getting some help in 1998 for six months, then from Survivors Swindon and a bit more counselling for another six months round about 2002. I'm fine now.

Stay with it Steven you can get there. It's a hard road but hang on in and you'll come through.

Re: How was the retreat

Steven, I'm sorry I have been back at this forum about four times since I posted but didn't see your reply, why I have no idea, I must have just looked at the wrong threads.

Have Thrive come up with an appointment yet? How are you doing?

Tom
