Warship HMS Illustrious Series
Hiya everyone , i thought i would post this incase any of you would be interested to see what it's like serving onboard a Royal Navy ship. xxxEvery Monday from 19th May at 9pm on channel 5 HMS Illustrious set sail on the 21st January on a deployment that took her on a mission fraught with danger, halfway round the world. Channel FIVE’s cameras were onboard capturing how ‘Lusty’ and her 1000-strong crew survive the four-month adventure. HMS Illustrious is one of the Navy’s two flagship aircraft carriers. She was built 26 years ago, but has been refitted several times to keep her in service. Senior Marine Engineer Lt Cdr Helen Ashworth, describes the carrier as; ‘A classic old lady who’s doing the nation proud’. *Script from Royal navynewslive* |

Nothing like a good old natter The "Meet Your Navy" is an event this year down here , ive copied some details for you hun The Royal Navy is this summer putting on the biggest show for the nation since the Trafalgar 2005 celebrations three years ago. Entitled Meet Your Navy, the three-day event at Portsmouth Naval Base on July 25-27 is a new concept in providing families with an unforgettable opportunity to tour up to 20 naval ships, witness exciting arena events and air displays and rub shoulders with the men and women of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and other members of Britain’s Armed Forces. More information about Meet Your Navy, including booking tickets, are available at: www.meetyournavy.co.uk |

Thats sounds like an interesting programme, i shall certainly be having a look, I found it very difficult to watch Ross Kemp, the interview with Lisa and family, mum of a fallen soldier, was heartbreaking

I agree with you both it was hard to watch but i am really glad i did with Ross Kemp because i saw things that i never knew happened and any awarness of the hard jobs our loved ones do when they are away from us is good. I dont know what will be in this series with the Illustrious but i can imagine it will be very good to watch

will catch that program i'm sure ...Meet your Navy sounds great Pink, maybe something Parcels43 could be involved in some way ? Linda, I agree about the Interview, I sat and cried watching Lisa and having met with Lorraine (Aaron's Mum) I feel so lucky that my Royal Anglian came home...Lorraine has a new gallery in her facebook account and I sat here in tears last night watching the photo's. It could so easily have been any one of our sons not get through and my heart goes out to the families of those who didn't return
