Windsor Castle Military Tattoo dress Rehearsal
I'm a newbie. Son's in the Household Cavalry and is in the great Sand pit. Just thought I'd post this, as I ended up with tickets for this spectacular show. I got them from Sam at SOS as she couldn't make it bless her! See Louise has filled you in and yes the seats were excellent. Well, what can I say, except thank you Sam for the tickets and thank you Parcels 43 for giving them to Sam. We had the most wonderful time, though unexpectedly, as part of the show, they did a enactment of an ambush involving 3 scimitars, with "casualties" etc. It was very atmospheric to say the least, and with James, my son, being in Afghan at the moment and having been there at the last fatal incident, brought it back to me. But I recovered enough to watch the rest of the show, which really went without any major hitches. They even had a troop who'd just recently returned from Afghan, and they marched through as well, and got a brilliant reception. All in all, well worth the trip down to Windsor and a good way to raise the forces profile and raise money for the guys. Want to do it again next year!!!! Theresa, I introduced myself to you at Bury St Edmunds last year at the Anglians Homecoming parade in the pub?? Don't know if you remember me!!

Hi Toni, Thanks for letting us know about the Tattoo, and so glad that someone else was able to use them after Sam couldn't make it. I do remember talking to some of the SOS ladies in the pub, it was a pleasure to chat with you all....My lad didn't get to parade in any of the homecomings as he was not fit enough to do so, I was dissapointed but am totally proud of him and all the other guys too. It was so cold that Day the pub was a good place to warm up Lovely to see you on P43 too Toni...Where do you live? |

Also really glad that the tickets turned out to be such good seets too...Louise has some pics on our facebook page already, quite handy when the whole show is directed right at you.....Carol lets hope we get some more tickets next year, maybe we can all arrange to use them and meet up and all stay somwhere over night... Windsor travelodge does rooms for about £29 if you book early enough

Yes, It was a cold night, that night, but the atmosphere in the pub was certainly warm. . It must have been disappointing for you and your son that he wasn't fit enough for the parade that day. Still, hope he's good now? And yes, we are proud of them all, bless 'em Well we stayed over as well, cos we ended up having a drink or two But when I tried to book a hotel the night before I couldn't get us in anywhere. Of course I forgot there was the "Horse Show" so it was really busy. But managed to get in at the Travellodge at Slough. Left my car at a secure compound overnight, caught a bus, the hotel is on the main bus route, had a bit of tea in Windsor, and trundled off to the show. Then walked back into Central Windsor for a drink or two, and caught a taxi back to the hotel. Taxi rank is outside the castle, on the high street. So it turned out Ok even though I didnt plan it early enough. Good idea for next year. Will be a great laugh!! And Oh I live in Wellingborough, Northants, nearly forgot to say. Sorry I went on a bit there.

He didn't do any of the marches Toni and was nearly not able to parade for his medal, he came back from Afghan with a problem and its still to be resolved. So glad that you had a great time at the Tattoo though , having just watched it very loud on my TV I feel quite envious of those who got to go now
