Rations
Thought I would bring this up on here as its being discussed on Ebluey today and I have left some comments....As many of you will know I sat infront of millions of viewers last year on the GMTV sofa in regards to the sending of food parcels and the costs involved to families. I was hoping that things had improved but it seems that they haven't which is such a shame as our guys on the ground need to have supplies on a regular basis as well as their moral from home I can feel som letters coming on

seems some of the guys not getting enough to eat in the forward bases, rations running low ect...same sort of thing as last year and it seems in 2006 from another comment...think its down to getting suppies to them rather than them not being availiable though |

Hopefully its an isolated thing but even that isnt really good enough for our troops who are putting their lives on the line and they are not even being fed properly. Please keep us informed on what you find out hun x |

I have had some emails overnight and have responded this morning to those concerned, hopefully it is isolated but I will make some calls on monday as this is worrying for the families |

Yes i can imagine it is , added worries and strain for our troops and their families on top of the usual worries and stress is not good at all x |

Sorry but feel I need to add my two pence, there is plenty of rations in Afghan the trouble is they are going through ammo like nobodies business the difference being that they are heavily on the offensive taking and holding territory rather than previously where they have just protected the existing grounds. This means that they have a simple choice have the much needed ammo flown in or food and post, understandably they are choosing ammo over food as an empty weapon is the last thing they want. Extensive efforts are being made at the effected areas to redress the problem. What would help is more helicopters more helicopter pilots and more helicopter maintenance personnel to enable more flights. They are all doing the very best they can over there and the marines are helping out with supplies too. They are trained in fending for themselves and will have no problems shooting the odd goat as the compensation for the locals is better than the compensation paid to our injured sevice men and women. This is not necessarilly one to hang on the government just yet but we will have to watch this space. |

Clarification to above, when I said the marines I ment the US marines and not our boys from exeter. |

Thanks for those thoughts Kenny, we hear only too clear that there seems to be a problem with supplying though and this has been the case for all supplies...ammo, water, rations and mail...if our guys/girls are to carry out their jobs then they must be supplied with all they need to do the job...ammo of course is top of the list but rations and water are a nessesity too without water they get ill..and would be unable to use the ammo...this thread started when the subject was brought up on ebluey about the guys running short of food in fobs...reports coming home and it is of course very concerning for those families at home who feel powerless. The supply chain is of course a constant job but with so many troops deployed surely someone somewhere must realise that they need more means of getting the supplies to those who need them. Kenny I emailed my tel numbers to you |
