Why are there so many forums to choose from.
Many groups are designed for only one type of question depending on how general it is. So moderators frequently have to keep posters on subject.
The problem is that Trans-Folk have a lot of questions from a very diversified background. often opposing in nature. The many catagories on these forums Keeps things organized and on topic which saves aggravation and conflict. Its easier to move a topic to the board next door then go ten groups away to find the appropriate subject. This way the poster can still have his post answered without a lot of aggravation. Peace between Trans-folk is essential. We have enough problems already without fighting each other.

Laura's Playground requires registration in the forums quite simply to keep them from getting out of hand. If you haven't noticed lately, some forums had a handful of users who couldn't seem to respect others points of view. This created a combat zone where sensitive Trans-folk couldn't ask simple quetions without being attacked. By registering on the forums you essentially make it your forum. As such you are entitled to be able to ask a question or discuss a topic in peace, without fear. Guests simply don't have a stake in the forums and therefore cannot post. Combatants are not alowed in the forums.
